Over the last few years, I have been fortunate to be involved in the seafood supply chain, which in turn opens the door to another world of culinary skills.
Working with skilled and passionate chefs is a truly amazing experience where you see food art, combined with taste, taking shape. It was always my dream and passion to create my own brand and seafood supply with a unique selling point taking my customers and followers on a seafood journey.
Chefs and consumers alike like to know the food journey and it is with this thought of provenance that my vision from sea to plate fits well with my business thinking.
Are the endless hours of work preparing for my future finally going to pay off with Amity Fish Co now launching a new line in Panko Bread Whole Tail Scampi?
A simple process of coating our best peeled langoustine meat with a light batter and coating with a quality panko bread crumb, locking in those natural flavours giving an eating experience like no other.
Are my endeavours to put value back into a British classic going to pay off? Will I be the modern-day Captain Birdseye? That journey is now well and truly underway – my challenge is to get you eating Amity products and spreading the good news.
Over the last few years, I have attended Northeast Scotland College NESCOL to study Business Management, to more recently joining the business growth programmes run by Opportunity North East (ONE) and Business Gateway Elevator. These mentoring programmes bring together like-minded entrepreneurs who shoulder the same burdens of growing the dream into a profitable business venture.
My opening statement in my business plan is very simple: ‘A goal without a plan is just a dream’ – all of the actions above were dreams and with years of planning are now part of my business structure. The rest is now up to me to become the next household name just like Bernard Matthews when he sold and promoted his iconic Turkeys from Norfolk as ‘bootiful’. What will my catch phrase be… perhaps a work in progress!
The past 40 years has been a truly adventurous journey, pitting my skills against Mother Nature, hunting prime fish for the nation to enjoy. Now I am creating chapter two with a new hunt, casting my net far and wide – the difference being, I’m hunting customers across the nation for all to enjoy. There is no shortage of them with 65 million people in the UK, the new skill needed is gentle persuasion…Something I’m not short of!
