The SFA and confusion go hand in hand, with this week’s speculation over the future of national team boss Alex McLeish another case in point.
Over the last few years, the governing body have been abysmal.
Look at the Brian McClair affair – brought in with good ideas to revolutionise youth development but axed, reportedly for not being good at presentations or wearing a suit and tie.
His predecessor Mark Wotte spent a similarly short time in charge of national performance.
We also haven’t heard from current chief Malky Mackay in a while.
But I expect his plans to improve our national team will be abandoned like the ones before them.
Gordon Strachan’s departure from the manager’s role was also handled over the phone, unacceptably, before the very public failure to get Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill.
The public manner of McLeish’s appointment as not the first choice did him no favours with the fans from the off.
The present chaos and speculation about his future, and his health, is despicable.
The SFA have stayed silent, instead of showing leadership.
In my opinion, the manager has been set the task of reaching Euro 2020 and still has two chances to do that, despite the 3-0 qualifying loss in Kazakhstan.
However, the SFA need to either back him or move him on.
