Willie Miller: Kerr’s Scots should relish World Cup draw
ByWillie Miller
Scotland’s women have been handed an exciting but tough draw for next summer’s World Cup.
The Dark Blues will take on England, Japan and Argentina in Group D at the tournament in France.
It seems like a tough draw but also one that Scotland should embrace.
We know that England are one of the top sides in women’s football and Japan and Argentina are less well-known.
But it seems as if they are also two very good sides.
I watched Scotland’s friendly with the USA in Paisley last month and the Dark Blues ran them very close in a 1-0 defeat and weren’t far away from being as good as the USA.
Shelley Kerr, pictured left, has got them going in the right direction and they shouldn’t be frightened of the opposition – they should embrace the challenge.
All three games will excite the nation and there is no doubt that Scotland have a chance to progress in the tournament.
They will have to play close to their top level like they did against the USA.
It’s great that the women’s team have qualified for the World Cup and I’m sure they will enjoy every moment of the experience.
