Willie Miller: Delight at Fraser’s first goal for national team
ByWillie Miller
It was brilliant to see Ryan Fraser score his first international goal on Saturday in Scotland’s 4-0 win over Albania.
When I went was at Aberdeen as director of football, the aim with youth development was to produce players to play for the Dons’ first team – which Fraser did.
But to produce international players was always a target and it’s great to see that come to fruition.
Fraser, pictured, wasn’t the only one. Scott McKenna was playing for the national side as well.
They are two young players who came through the programme at a similar time. It’s very rewarding for Aberdeen’s youth programme to see players in the Scotland team.
Fraser took his goal really well and it was important because it broke the deadlock and boosted the team.
It was a high-class finish and if some of the top European players score a goal like that people go over the top in their praise of it.
So we have every right to get excited by Fraser’s display because he has brought his form from Bournemouth to the international team.
