What a signing Lewis Ferguson is proving to be for Aberdeen. Yet again the teenager, pictured, popped up with a vital winner, following up his headed goal in the 1-0 Betfred Cup semi-final win over Rangers. Scoring important goals is a great habit to get into. Ferguson’s technique was superb, but he has to be applauded for even taking on the responsibility of the free-kick at such a young age. He is only 19 years old, but has already cemented himself as a first-team regular and a match winner. There were only minutes left in the game when he scored. Gary Mackay-Steven was hovering about and I thought he might fancy taking the free-kick himself. With Niall McGinn off having been substituted, the opportunity arose for Ferguson to step up. He took his chance to curl the free-kick around the wall. There were so many players in the Kilmarnock wall, you wonder how he was able to see anything. Yet he had the confidence and skill to pick out a gap and fire it into the corner. This article originally appeared on the Evening Express website.
