Tomorrow’s League Cup quarter-final against Hibs gives Aberdeen a great chance to build on the win over Motherwell.
The Dons won’t have it easy at Easter Road but if the can progress it would provide a feel-good factor at the club.
You do get defining times and games in a season and the Motherwell game had the feel of one because it hasn’t been a great start to the season and the lack of goals was worrying.
But the Reds are over that hurdle and the pressure has been taken off the management team and players and the fams are galvanised.
But there is nothing better than a cup run to galvanise the fans.
To win the competition, Aberdeen only need to win four games so it’s a short, sharp opportunity to kick-start the season.
Doing well in the cup will boost the players’ confidence and give the fans something to celebrate.
It is a tough tie, Hibs are a good side and Neil Lennon, pictured, has made them difficult to play against.
The first goal will be important to settle the players down, but it is a great opportunity to build on Saturday’s result and get motoring by reaching a semi-final.
