Willie Miller: Pittodrie event fitting way to celebrate Neale’s life
ByWillie Miller
It’s nice that the Aberdeen fans will have the opportunity to celebrate Neale Cooper’s life at Pittodrie.
A celebration of his life is taking place in the Richard Donald Stand on Friday. Neale was a hugely popular person and it’s fitting and also necessary for the club to open up Pittodrie and give the fans a chance to celebrate Neale Cooper, the footballer, and Neale Cooper, the person.
We know what he brought to the Dons on the pitch and I think most people in the Granite City know what he brought off the pitch since retiring from the game.
He touched a lot of people in Aberdeen with his personality and humour, he was such an easy-going person who brought sunshine into your life every time you met him.
A lot of fans will want to celebrate Neale, pictured, and that’s what his family want it to be – a celebration of his life – not a memorial service.
I’m sure that’s what he would have wanted because he was larger than life and always full of fun.
All the tributes left around Pittodrie and the letter of condolence from Real Madrid show the high regard he was held in by so many and this is a great opportunity for the fans to celebrate Neale’s life.
