Celtic fully deserved to win the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
The Hoops cantered to victory against Motherwell at Hampden to seal a second successive treble.
Although the Steelmen were energetic and never gave up, the game was over by half-time when Brendan Rodgers’ team had already established a two-goal lead.
Celtic could have scored more on Saturday, but they managed the game and it was a comfortable victory.
Over the last two seasons under Rodgers, the Hoops have been dominant in Scottish football and will have their eyes on a third clean sweep of the trophies next season.
The challenge is for other sides to stop them and that task could get even harder depending on Celtic’s recruitment this summer.
For Aberdeen the result on Saturday was welcome because it means they will enter next season’s Europa League at the second qualifying round.
That means the Dons have an extra two weeks to prepare for the new season with the first leg of the second qualifying round on July 26.
It’s important because it gives Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes more time to build his squad.
It also gives the players more time to rest and get themselves ready for the new season.
Starting in the second qualifying round is a positive way for the Reds to begin next season.
