The Scotland upcoming friendly against Holland at Pittodrie offers the chance for Aberdeen players to put forward an argument to be involved in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.
Interim manager Malky Mackay will take charge of the clash at Pittodrie on Thursday.
However, regardless of who is ultimately appointed as permanent Scotland boss, a strong performance from the three Dons can hopefully put them high in the new gaffer’s mind.
Skipper Graeme Shinnie, Kenny McLean and Ryan Christie are all deserving of international call-ups.
Shinnie has been superb for Aberdeen in recent seasons. You know what established international left-backs Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney are capable of.
Shinnie deserves his chance to prove he can also operate at that level.
It is also great to see two former Aberdeen players in Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser and Rangers’ Ryan Jack also included in the squad.
Both are Aberdonians and products of the Dons’ youth system so it would be great to see them play for Scotland at Pittodrie.
Mackay is part of the development set-up at the SFA so I would have expected him to give fresh blood a chance and he has called up eight uncapped players
Following the failed World Cup bid and the departure of Gordon Strachan this is the opportunity for a new wave to break through.
