This week’s Aberdonian is all about dancing to coincide with International Dance Day 2021.

From disco to contemporary, and Highland to ballroom, this week’s gallery features it all.

1991: Proudly showing off their medals and certificates for tap, ballet and Highland dancing are these young pupils who attend classes at Kaimhill Community Centre.
1989: These young dancers from the Pam Dignan School of Dancing bring a breath of Scotland to staff at the Texaco building in the Aberdeens Huntly Street yesterday.
1989: Members of the Royal Scottish Dance Society, Aberdeen branch, take a break from dancing (above) at their night out in the Stakis Tree Top Hotel but it was not long before couples (left) were stepping it out again.
1988: Looking forward to their Wednesday evening out are these members of Cornhill Community Centre, sequence dancing class. Taking the class, it this its third week, are Bob and Elsie Souter (front right). A programme for more advanced dancers is held on Friday evenings.
More than 20 couples waltzed through the ballroom doors last night
Last night they began a series of dancing lessons at Aberdeens Beach ballroom to help those of us with two left feet to distinguish the quick, quick, slows, from the slow, slow, quicks.
Aberdeen City District Council are using one of the North-easts most famous dancing venues to help couples learn to trip the light fantastic.

Neville, a former member of the English Dance Theatre, showed the dancers at the Cowdray Hall how to use the martial arts in their movements.
1986: Leading some of the North-east dance enthusiasts during the workshop in the Cowdray Hall is Neville Campbell.
1980: Dance duo Paul Mennie and Elaine Paterson, from Westhill, who won the disco competition run by Grampian Association of Youth Clubs in Westhill Academy last night.
1980: Winners all in this proud line-up of some of the Saturday morning trophy-winners, who took part in the first Granite City Festival of Highland Dancing, held at the Centre for the Deaf, Smithfield Road, Aberdeen. The competition attracted entries from many parts of the North and north-east.
