This week’s Aberdonian looks at some of the family-friendly Easter events which have taken place across the north-east since the 70s.

This pun-filled selection of images all appeared in the Evening Express between 1970 and 1993.

1993 - An Easter treat of a special doggie chocolate egg for Mitzi, the King Charles spaniel, from her owner, Inverness teenager Lynne Cameron, Planefield Road.

1991 - Pretty Jillian Sim, from Edinburgh, was on holiday visiting her grandparents Betty and Ian Thomson, of Garden Crescent, Aberdeen, when their dog Pepper led her astray into the flower beds at Kincorth but, although Pepper was quite happy to have a seat there, Jillian decided I was not really a good place to roll her Easter egg. 1984 - Thats eggsactly what I want for Easter says seven-year-old Angie Beaton. But Angie (right), brother Lee (10) and sister Melanie (8) of 24 Corthan Drive, Aberdeen, had to make do with something a little smaller. The giant 25lb egg is one of 250 from Rowntree Mackintosh in Woolworths stores all over Britain which will be given to charity. But Woolies, Aberdeen, assistant manager Myles Laing has asked Evening Express readers to suggest who they think would most like the monster in Aberdeen. Wed like to hear suggestions and their reason and we will pick the best, said Myles.
1992 - Some chicken! Customer services officer Gary Hutcheon and his colleague, Fiona McKenzie, of the TSB branch in Union Terrace, have been helping bring Easter happiness to needy children this week. Customers have been bringing hundreds of chocolate goodies for the NorthSound Easter Egg Appeal. After sweating inside his chicken outfit, Gary had to have just one Easter Egg!
1992 - North Smiles beat the cold-weather blues There was plenty of time for fun and games throughout the North yesterday. From a poor foal fooling around in a funny hat, to a giant egg in Inverness; from a clutch of chicks in Avoch, to the winners of a competition the weather may not have been the best, but everyone had that happy Easter feeling. Right: Lady Lorraine, a day-old Clydesdale foal belonging to Mr Jim Steven, Tore, wonders what its all about.
1989 - ‘Nice day for the birds… and Easter. Jenny Milne (7), Milltimber, was doing her good deed for Easter by carrying a huge Easter egg advertising ‘’Fresh Air’’ the students’ show in HM Theatre. But little girls get tired and feeding the pigeons in the Duthie Park is also a nice way to spend an Easter Day.’

1987 - Three-year-old Melanie Gray, 172 Newburgh Circle, Bridge of Don, would rather eat her hard-boiled egg than roll it. She was taking part in a special Easter holiday Eggstra attraction for children organised by Aberdeens leisure and recreation department at Duthie Park yesterday. Sporting their best Easter bonnets, hundreds of children decorated the eggs and rolled them down the park slope. The council also laid on to inflatable play castle for the children. More than 500 eggs, donated by Homestead Eggs, were specially boiled for the occasion.

1988 - Lady provost Margaret Rae is surrounded by children who took part in the Easter Bonnet parade in St Nicholas Centre, Aberdeen, on Saturday in conjunction with this years Scottish Connection festivities. The lady Provost presented the prizes.
