This week’s Aberdonian has taken a look back at archive images of the Lyric Music Society.

1987: The wild west is coming to Aberdeen. The city's Lyric Musical Society is staging Calamity Jane at His Majesty's Theatre in March - the first time the musical has been presented at the theatre. The cast of 70 has already started rehearsals, with Anne Gordon and Andrew Begg starring as Calamity Jane and Wild Bill
1994: Scotland's youngest trapeze artiste Wendy Ross, celebrates her 13th birthday rehearsing for the Lyric Musical Society production of Barnum at His Majesty's Theatre. 1987: Rehearsal for the Lyric Musical Society's production of Carousel are now well under way for the showing in His Majesty's Theatre starting on March 23 after the sudden death of producer Celia Strachan just before Christmas. Lyric member Callum Stuart (right), a former pupil of Celia's and now a teacher of drama in the Alford area, has agreed to take over as produced. Callum is shown at rehearsal with cast members (left to right, back) Andrew Begg (Jigger), Ian Webster (Enoch Snow), Anne Gordon (Carrie) and (left to right, front) Rhonda Mair (Julie) and Mhorag Mair (Louise).
1983: Rehearsals are now in full swing for the colourful musical My Fair Lady which is being staged in His Majesty's Theatre from March 7-12. In this picture taken during a break in the rehearsal last night in Beechwood School, are three of the leading personalities of Aberdeen Lyric Musical Society who are presenting the musical. Group includes Eliza (centre) played by Susan Mair, while on left is her teacher Prof. Higgins played by Donald Budge, while on right is Dr Doolittle, her father, played by Andrew Begg.
1985: Donald Munro and Rhonda Mair, who play Tommy and Winnie Tait in Annie, get a helping hand during rehearsals.
1985: Getting into the swing of things are the members of the Lyric Musical Society who are pictured at their first rehearsal for Hello Dolly to be staged at HM Theatre next March, their 30th show at the theatre. Musical director Ewen Ritchie (at piano) put them through their paces at Beechwood School last night.
1981: Women members of the Lyric Music Society show off their Easter bonnets in preparation for their performance of Showtime, at the Arts Centre on May 11. All the hats were made by Miss Margaret Robertson (front, fifth right), a millner. The group are hearsing in Holburn West Church Hall, Aberdeen.

1990: Tony Burgess, who plays the lead in The Music Man to be held at His Majesty's Theatre from tomorrow until Saturday, gets into the spirit of things with his wife Pamela and seven year old daughter Lisa who are also in the show. The five other families taking part in the Lyric Music Society's latest show, gather round.
1986: Aberdeen's Lyric Musical Society have started rehearsal for their next production, Carousel, which they will stage at His Majesty's Theatre from March 23 to 29. The leading parts are taken by Linda Yule (front) as Julie Jorden and Donald Budge as Billy Bigelow. The story is a tragic romance set in a New England fishing village and the numbers include old favourites.
1992: Alan Mann and Jillian Thomson with Lyric dancers rehearse for the society's production of High Society to be staged at Aberdeen's HM Theatre from October 13 to 17.
