This week’s Aberdonian takes us to the old Summerhill Academy

Our archive images show students and teachers from the old school going back as far as 1969.

The girls are Linda Stuart (15), 35 Springhill Road; Fiona Fraser (15), 12 Auchlea Place; Dorothy Duguid, 58 Tay Road, and Lorna McAllum (16), 24 Sheddocksley Road, all Aberdeen.
The competition has been organised by British Petroleum and Singer and the girls had to select one o two routes they would use to travel to Turkey and design clothing suitable for their journey.
The four and their teacher make up a team from Summerhill Academy, Aberdeen, who have qualified for the final of a national design and dressmaking competition.

1987: Summerhill Academy held their 25th jubilee dinner in the Amatola Hotel, Aberdeen, last night. Jubilee committee chairman Mr Robert Pirie holds the cake with head teacher Miss Patricia Cormack and the first head, from 1962-68, Mr William Christie (centre right).

Through Summerfield Community Council and with the help of Aberdeen District Cleansing Department, they are tidying up the Denburn area between Fernlelea Road, Woodend and Kingsgate.
1981: Summerhill Academy 4th-year pupils are taking a break from lessons this week to carry out the first phase of a two-part community project.
1988: echnical education department pupils at Summerhill Academy are dab hands at clock-making.
