Shell 1993-04-20 Creche (C)AJL 20 April 1993 "Little Jack Smith, eight months old, steals the show at the official opening of the new Altens Nursery." "A new creche to cater for the children of Shell Expro staff was opened at the company's Tullos headquarters in Aberdeen yesterday. The purpose built Altens Nursery which involves an investment of about £300,000 provides full daycare for 24 children and is to be managed by Kinderquest, which runs around 20 nurseries throughout the UK." "Competition between oil companies in the North east reached an all time high yesterday - but it was all good clean sporting fun. Thirty three teams representing 26 oil companies, competed for the Aberdeen Conference Centre Super Sports Star Trophy at the centre at Foveran House, Newburgh. Shell 1992-06-16 Charity Walk 1992-06-16 (C)AJL 16 June 1992 "Best Foot Forward...Happy moment at the Shell offices at Altens yesterday, as members of staff who raised charity cash with a walk through the Lairig Ghru celebrate their achievement by handing over cheques to two representative. 1992: Shell UK Exploration and Production's Lifestyle programme is seen by top management as a hearts and minds operation, essential in its battle to reduce time lost through accidents and ill health.
1993: Twenty Shell and oil service company employees have reached charity peaks by forming an over the hill walking group for the over 40s. Donnie Wright of Weatherfold service company, and friends completed a 30 mile walk - the Lairig an Loaigh - from Braemar to Nethy Bridge and have raised £5,000 for local children's charities. At a gathering of representatives in the Mains of Scotstown, Aberdeen, they invited Dons player Bobby Connor to receive part of the proceeds for Aberdeen FC players' Handicapped Children's Holiday Fund. Staff members Moira Longstaff and Kath Stewart handed over the donation.
