This week’s gallery has taken a turn to the furry side.

Instead of our usual historical shots of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, we’re taking time out to appreciate some of our favourite feline friends.

1988: Newly-weds Gordon and Laura Duguid entered Fergie, a seven-month-old tortoiseshell for the show.
1986: An overjoyed Aberdeen animal lover has been reunited with her ailing moggie - thanks to Evening Express readers. Minush, the one-eyed black cat, went missing last week just hours before an emergency operation and EE readers were put on the alert.
1984: Handsome cat, Smokey, pet of Mrs Sandra Morrice, 1 Jesmond Avenue, Bridge of Don, knows what keeps him sleek and adorable, so he doesn't always wait until official meal times. Sometimes he helps himself to a small snack on the sly. Beats raking through a smelly dustbin!

1979: Space hero Flash Gordon would have been proud of his Westhill namesake. For Flash mark two - a black and white cat - is the pride of her owners, Alzira and Anthony Odone, 59 Arnhall Drive. Flash turned Good Samaritan when she found her fledging in the back garden. Most cats would have jumped at the chance of an unexpected meal, but Flash gallantly carried each of the four new-born chicks into the house unharmed

1989: Jelly the climbing cat threw a wobbly when rescuers tried to pluck her to safety from a 60ft high perch. But the lucky black cat literally landed on her feet, and was soon purring in the arms of her doting Aberdeen owner after plunging unhurt to the ground.
1980: Security guards at an oil pipeyard on the outskirts of Aberdeen have a four-legged friend who goes on patrol with them.
