From youth shows to Aberdeen events, our archives are full of snapshots into the past.

Here are images featuring north-east residents from 1957 to 1999 along with their original captions from time of publication.

1989: Master of Ceremonies Muzz Crandon strolls round the various market stalls.
1978: Jack MacLean, tops up Rattray Head's paraffin-fuelled lamp. All around him are the ground glass lenses and reflectors which magnify and direct the beams from the light. A clockwork mechanism, installed when the lighthouse was built over 80 years ago, revolves the entire apparatus to produce the flashing effect. And, in clear weather, the lighthouse can be seen about 20 miles out to sea.
1973: Emergency services awaiting the arrival of the plane at Aberdeen Airport.
1994: Ross Ritchie peers through a mountain of costumes from the Texaco Theatre Summer School, which is appealing for rails to hang the clothes.

The people of Aberdeen have enjoyed the gardens for decades.
1994: Motorcycle stuntman Eddie Kidd thrilled the crowd of thousands at the Banchory Show, King George V Park, in July. 1994.
1999: Donald Dewar MSP, Lord Provost of Aberdeen Margaret Smith and a Monkfish launch the Fisheries Showcase '99 at the Maritime Museum.
1962: Stonehaven's Mill Lade was being used as an unofficial holiday camp site
1982: Pupils from Tipperty School near Ellon take a break from rehearsals for Return of Jack the Sailor - their entry in the Festival of Drama and the Spoken Word in 1982.
1964: Aberdeen v Hibernian Saturday's pea-souper meant quite a drop in the attendance at Pittodrie. The Dons secretary, Mr Bill Jaffray, said yesterday: "For about two hours before the match the phone hardly stopped ringing - and all the callers wanted to know if the match was on. "Most of them were from people in the country areas and there is no doubt that the fog stopped a lot of people travelling to the game. One motorist told me that it took him an hour to travel to Aberdeen from Kintore.
