From youth shows to Aberdeen events, our archives are full of snapshots into the past.

Here are images featuring north-east residents from 1952 to 1991 along with their original captions from time of publication.

1983: Traffic wardens in Aberdeen's busy Union Street were all at sea when this 17ft boat ran aground. But as owner Ally Stephen revealed they were really quite friendly when they saw the unscheduled docking was unavoidable. For Shalako shed a wheel near the busy Market Street junction, and had to be left while Ally fetched tools to repair the stipped wheel nuts. Ally got the Shalako just over a year ago and keeps it at Stonehaven harbour. He was transporting the boat for a refit before the summer season. And with the benefit of some roadside repairs she was ready to finish her journey - after proving that not every master of a boat gets a ticket.
1952: A sunny day led to a busy scene at Aberdeen beach.
1988: Crowds flocked to sun soaked Ballater yesterday for the 115th annual Highland Games. Only one brief shower marred the otherwise perfect afternoon at Montaltrie Park - the site of the event for the last 99 years.

1988: Hairdressing students at Aberdeen Technical College evening classes compete last night to create the perfect "Modern Men's Haircut" Lynn Smith, Dyce, gets to grips with her father, Albert's, locks.
1985: No prizes for telling how well Jane Fowlie,12, did in the under 16 years individual dessert competition at New Deer Show yesterday. Congratulating Jane, Loanhead, New Deer, on her tasty treat are mum, Pamela, sister Suzanne, 10, and four-year-old brother John, who seems to be licking his lips ready to give his personal verdict on the winning entry.
1989: Splashing in with £10,000 sponsorship Sysdrill managing director Dave Raby performs the champagne naming of the two new Aberdeen University Boat Club boats Fours Full and White Wash watched by Club captain Paul Nymah and members.
1988: Cove youngster David Henderson, 13 found the key to success and the most uncomfortable perch in Union Street when he won the euphonium and baritone class at the Aberdeen and North East of Scotland Music Festival. The Kincorth Academy pupil won the event in the Kirk Hall and was one of a host of stars at the festival, labelled the friendly competition.
The deck chairs are out and Aberdonians relax in the sun at Hazlehead Park in 1961. Families enjoy a cup of tea and a snack under the sunshades at the restaurant while a queue waits patiently for ice cream.
1982: The parasoled tables between the refreshment room and the stable shop gives this area of Balmoral a continental look.
1977: Fireball dinghy crews (left to right) Colin Cattanach, Forbes Mitchell, Johnnie Johnson and Edward Bissett who will be Scotland's representatives in the European Fireball Championships to be held in July in West Germany.
