We’ve gone through our archives and dug out these images of winter sports events in the north-east over the past few decades.

Academy girls have slid down the slippery slope to victory. Daredevil downhill slides by the Banchory ski-girls have already won them four national championships. Now, the five strong Banchory Academy squad has picked up a sports council team of the year award. And 16 year old team member Caroline McCulloch has been judged top sportsperson of 1996. Gillian and Alison Culshaw, Caroline Blaikie and Laura Deacon and Caroline lifted the Scottish and all Britain snow and dryslope girls school slalom titles last year. Proud team manager and academy teacher David Culshaw - just plain 'dad' to two of the squad - paid tribute to the dedication that has them out on the slopes almost every weekend from September to Easter and busy with tough fitness training on weekdays.
