Aberdeen play Celtic tonight with the aim of ending the Hoops’ 60-game unbeaten domestic run.
The incentive for Derek McInnes’ Dons is to take the lead over Brendan Rodgers’ side in the title race.
In February 2014, Neil Lennon’s side came to Pittodrie on a 26-game Premiership invincible streak, with keeper Fraser Forster having not conceded a goal for 1,215 minutes – a Scottish record – before kick-off.
Celtic got off to a menacing start in the game, with Charlie Mulgrew testing Jamie Langfield with a low shot, before Anthony Stokes almost forced a Scott Brown cross over the goal-line.
Luckily for the Dons, Mark Reynolds was there to clear his lines.
Then disaster struck for the Hoops – Virgil van Dijk was shown a straight red card in 12 minutes for a last-man challenge on Peter Pawlett.
On 41 minutes, as a goalless half-time approached, Niall McGinn found Jonny Hayes in space 30-yards out and the winger rocketed the ball into the top corner. Forster barely moved.
Pittodrie was bouncing and the Dons found another before the break, with Adam Rooney’s low header finding the net.
In the second period, a Celtic-dominated 15 minutes brought a James Forrest goal – a drive into the roof of the net.
McInnes threw on Joe Shaughnessy and captain Russell Anderson to hold off an impending equaliser and it was enough, with his team clinging on to a brilliant win.
