From charity work to Christmas concerts, Aberdeen is always full to the brim with Christmas spirit when the holiday rolls around every year.
To celebrate the kindness and fun experienced in Aberdeen at Christmastime, let’s take a step into Aberdeen Christmas past.
In these photos, we can see plenty of generous donations from the communities of Aberdeen, festive performances and Santa on one of his many visits to the Granite City through the years.

1987 – Joanne Handsley, of Aberdeen Journals’ publicity department, stacks up the Evening Express Spirit of Christmas appeal trolley with donations from Birds and Crosse & Blackwell.
1985 – Philip Stevenson shows Mile End School classmates a light-up snowman which was being raffled for the Special Nursery. The snowman was donated by his dad Edward, whose annual Christmas garden displays at Ashgrove Road West were a popular stop-off for city families.
1985 – Morag Hay, Kimberley Fergus and Lynn Crocket with a big bar of chocolate being raffled at a charity event at Cousins nightspot to raise cash for the Special Nursery.

1987 – Claire Yule, 5, stops off at the Evening Express collection van in Union Street, to drop off food for the Spirit of Christmas appeal.

1973 – Donbank Primary School choir takes the stage at the Music Hall.
1972 – Children line up to give gifts to the Evening Express gift centre as part of a toy appeal for youngsters who would otherwise not receive presents.

1985 – Youngsters from Mastrick Parish Church Sunday School hand over a £150 donation to Sheila Bruce for the Special Nursery Appeal as they rehearsed for Christmas events.
