Where on earth has the time gone? It’s somehow February already!
This week, as we turn a page in our calendar, we felt it was only appropriate to look back through our archives for some of our favourite February pictures from days gone by.
Our gallery below stretches as far back as 1940 when men were queueing to sign up or the national register as part of the National Registration Act which was introduced the year before.
The act meant that police officers could demand to see any one in public’s ID card at any time.
Separately, in 1969, Aberdeen was hit by a brutal snow storm which forced snow ploughs out to deal with the problem. It thankfully was not as bad as the big freeze of 1963 – the worst winter for 200 years.
Our gallery also shows children taking up karate in the late 1980s and an impressive piece of art.
What are your favourite February memories?
