The Scottish Parliament will fly the rainbow flag this weekend for Edinburgh Pride, following pressure from the Press and Journal.
Equalities campaigners expressed delight at the decision to show solidarity by flying the LGBTI+ symbol.
SNP equalities spokeswoman Christina McKelvie was among those who welcomed the news.
She said: “This is a great show of solidarity with the LGBTI community in Edinburgh, Scotland and beyond, and I know people will be delighted to learn the Scottish Parliament stands with them in the face of continued attacks to LGBTI rights across the world.
“I am also pleased to hear parliamentary staff will be joining the march under the Parliament banner for the first time ever – a reminder our national Parliament stands shoulder to shoulder with those demanding equality of all kinds.
“I wish Pride marchers all the best in Edinburgh on Saturday.”
