Labour deny Jeremy Corbyn supports Scottish independence

A claim UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn supports Scottish independence has been dismissed as nonsense.
SNP MP Mhairi Black told a journalist Mr Corbyn “doesn’t believe” in keeping Scotland part of the UK.
When asked how she knew, Ms Black said it was clear he backed the break-up of Britain “from talking to him” and accused him of being “a hypocrite” by saying publicly he didn’t believe in separation.
A Labour spokesman subsequently dismissed the claims, which he said were unsupported by any evidence and pointed to repeated public statements made by Mr Corbyn on his firm opposition to independence.
He said: “Mhairi Black’s claims are complete nonsense”.
But Scottish Conservative constitution spokesman Adam Tomkins said the claim showed Mr Corbyn was only “paying lip service to the importance of the union”.
He said: “This is yet more confirmation that Labour isn’t just soft on the independence issue, it doesn’t even care”.
