Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard has said he would prefer Labour’s Brexit deal to a so-called People’s Vote.
Mr Leonard said he would rather Labour’s five point Brexit plan, which would see the UK remain in the customs union, than a referendum on Theresa May’s deal.
But he added that he would vote “Remain” in the event of a second vote.

The Scottish Labour leader said: “We have said we are looking for significant changes to the deal that is on the table – a permanent Customs Union, close alignment with the single market, guarantees around the rights and protections people have as workers and consumers and environmental protections and collaboration with the EU around security and arrest warrants – and so my preference is for that deal.”
His colleague Ian Murray, MP for Edinburgh South, said Mr Leonard’s remarks would disappoint many Labour voters.
“There is no good Brexit, no jobs-first Brexit, and no better Labour Brexit,” Mr Murray said.
“Nothing is as good as what we currently enjoy as a member of the EU.
“Jeremy Corbyn, Keir Starmer and Emily Thornberry have been clear.
“We should have a public vote with the Prime Minister’s deal versus remain on the ballot paper and we must back remain for the sake of jobs and livelihoods in Scotland and across the UK.”
