Revoke Article 50 petition reaches three million signatures – see how many have backed it in your area

A petition calling for Article 50 to be revoked and for Britain to remain in the EU has attracted more than three million signatures in a matter of days.

It quickly gained support in the wake of the Prime Minister’s speech on Wednesday night and Revoke Article 50 started to trend on Twitter.

The UK Government website, which hosts the petitions, crashed earlier this week due to the large volume of traffic on the site.

Theresa May has ruled out cancelling the Brexit countdown despite the public petition continuing to soar.

The Prime Minister said she did not believe in halting the deadline after the EU offered a delay plan, adding: “I do not believe that we should be revoking Article 50.”
