One of the Scottish Parliament’s leading opposition voices is due to visit Moray today to learn more about health challenges facing the region.
Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin has been repeatedly hit by staff shortages in recent years which have resulted in services being downgraded there since July last year.
Today the Scottish Conservatives’ shadow cabinet secretary for health, Miles Briggs, will visit the unit as well as Keith Health Centre and Elgin GPs to find out more about issues affecting the region.
Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston said: “This visit is about fact-finding and about listening to the concerns of local people.
“For instance, there have been a number of concerns raised in Moray recently such as access to maternity and paediatric services, the GP contract and the sustainability of local practices and health centres.
“These are important matters which Miles and I will be seeking updates on.”
