Nicola Sturgeon has been urged to act amid fears that up to 50 jobs could be at risk at the Aberdeen depot of dairy giant Muller.
The first minister faced calls to intervene after it emerged Muller is reviewing the viability of its distribution, garage, tanker and retail operation in the city.
North East Labour MSP Lewis Macdonald has written to Ms Sturgeon asking her to take action.
Mr Macdonald said: “If the closure goes ahead it will be a real blow for the workers, the community and the local economy. This is why I have written to the First Minister urging her to intervene to stop the closure.
“I hope the Scottish Government and its agencies will do all they can. Too many jobs have been lost in recent times due to big companies centralising their services.”
Muller has launched a 30-day consultation into the future of the depot. The exercise comes after Muller closed its milk processing facilities in Aberdeen in 2016.
Earlier this week, Muller Milk and Ingredients Distribution chief executive Ian Smith blamed declining consumption of fresh milk and retail changes for the latest move.
