A further 32 people have been confirmed as having coronavirus in Scotland – with a second case reported in the Highlands.
Today’s figures from the Scottish Government revealed there have been 153 positive tests – the total was 121 on Saturday.
A second case has been reported in the Highlands while the Grampian total is now 12.
Gregor Smith, Scotland’s deputy chief medical officer, issued a plea to members of the public after NHS 24 reported receiving a large volume of calls about the virus.
He said: “Advice remains to stay at home and isolate if you have a fever over 37.8 or continuing cough. Please use NHS 24 out of hours if you have worsening or more serious symptoms.”
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “I know this is an anxious time. As first minister, I want to assure you that the Scottish Government is and will continue to take all possible steps. Right now, we are asking people with mild symptoms – fever or persistent cough – to stay at home. Only phone NHS 24 if symptoms worsen.”
