There are currently 159 people with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 in hospitals across the north and north-east.
The latest figures from the Scottish Government show there are 91 people in hospital in Grampian – with eight in intensive care – and 68 in the Highlands. Of those, five are in intensive care.
The total number of positive cases for the north-east has reached 550 while 211 people have tested positive in the Highlands.
On Orkney and the Western Isles, there are six confirmed cases while the Shetland total has reached 54.
A total of 43,309 people in Scotland have been tested, with 34,271 testing negative. The country’s total for confirmed cases is now 9,038.
Data collected by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) released today showed that up to April 19 there has been a total of 1,616 deaths registered in Scotland as a result of coronavirus, with a third of these in care homes.
Almost 150 people have died after contracting Covid-19 across the north and north-east.
