More than 290 people have died in the north and north-east from coronavirus since the pandemic began.
The latest update from The National Records of Scotland (NRS) that as of May 10, there have been 3,213 deaths where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
The figures show there have been 415 deaths in the latest recording period – a decrease of 100 from the previous week. This is the second weekly reduction in the figures in a row.
More than half of all registered deaths involving the virus in the last recording period occurred in care homes – 57% compared to 60% in week 18.
The number of deaths in care homes has gone down for a second week in a row, from 314 to 238.
A regional breakdown of the figures show there have been 187 deaths in Grampian (an increase of 28 on the previous report), nine more deaths in the Highlands, taking the region’s total to 97.
There has been no new deaths registered with Covid-19 mentioned on the certificate on Orkney and Shetland – and none since the pandemic began in the Western Isles.
Orkney has had two deaths and Shetland has had seven.
The NRS figures include all cases where Covid-19 is mentioned in a person’s death certificate and are distinct from the daily figures produced by Health Protection Scotland (HPS), which have so far included only individuals who have died within 28 days of testing positive for the virus.
