The latest update also shows 46% of Covid-19 deaths registered to date related to deaths in care homes, 47% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings.
The report from NRS Scotland states the proportion of Covid-19 deaths which took place in care homes has risen over time but has dropped back in recent weeks and now represents 54% of all coronavirus deaths in the most recent reporting period. The number of deaths in care homes fell for a fourth week, by 62 to 124.
A regional breakdown of the figures show there have been 231 deaths in Grampian (an increase of 18 in the past week) and 107 in the Highlands (an increase of three) since the pandemic began.
There have been no further deaths recorded in the islands that mention Covid-19. So far, two people have died on Orkney, seven on Shetland and none in the Western Isles after contracting the disease.
The NRS figures include all cases where Covid-19 is mentioned in a person’s death certificate and are distinct from the daily figures produced by Health Protection Scotland (HPS), which have so far included only individuals who have died within 28 days of testing positive for the virus.
