REGIONAL BREAKDOWN: 44 new Covid-19 cases across Scotland – including six in Grampian and two in the Highlands

A further 44 new confirmed coronavirus cases have been recorded in Scotland in the past 24 hours.

The latest update from the Scottish Government shows the country’s total number of positive cases since the pandemic began is now at 19,921.

A total of 482,194 people in Scotland have been tested since March and of these, 462,273 were confirmed negative.

The new figures show 243 people were in hospital with confirmed Covid-19 and one person is being treated in intensive care.

There have been no deaths related to the virus recorded in the past 24 hours.

A regional breakdown of the figures shows there have been six new cases recorded in the Grampian area, taking the total to 1,905.

There are currently 19 people in hospital after testing positive in the north-east.

Lockdown restrictions were eased in Aberdeen yesterday, with the five mile travel limit removed and people allowed to meet others from different households indoors.

There have been two new cases recorded in the Highlands and islands, with their number increasing for the first time since Saturday to 401.

The totals remain for Orkney, Shetland and Western Isles at 16, 56 and seven respectively.

In Tayside, there have been 7 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. The Scottish Government is currently dealing with an cluster in the area.Â
