A bookmaker has claimed Jim Murphy is out in front in the three horse race to become the next leader of the Scottish Labour Party.
Ladbrokes said the East Renfrewshire MP was leading the way as the odds-on favourite at 1/2 with his only feasible competition appearing to come from Lothians MSP Neil Findlay at 2/1.
Sarah Boyack, who also represents the Lothians, is the 8/1 outsider.
Ladbrokes said former prime minister Gordon Brown was a popular bet having been backed to just 3/1 for the position before he ruled himself out.
Spokesman Alex Donohue said: “Ever since Brown ruled himself out of the running Murphy has been all the rage.
“Political punters have quickly dismissed his rivals, especially Boyack, so anything other than a victory for the East Renfrewshire MP would come as a surprise.”
