The Scottish Government has said it welcomed any funding opportunities to improve the road network but was focusing on delivering existing projects.
A spokeswoman said SNP ministers were addressing “under investment in north-east transport infrastructure” by building the Aberdeen bypass and upgrading the A90 between Balmedie and Tipperty despite a 25% capital budget cut.
“This investment will bring an additional £6billion to the north-east economy, generating around 1,500 construction jobs, improving safety and cutting congestion for road users and local communities,” she added.
“We are also taking forward the design work at the Haudagain roundabout in Aberdeen and construction has started on the A96 Inveramsay Bridge improvement scheme, in addition to our ambitious plans to dual the A96.”
The spokeswoman said the government recognised that the A90 was an important route for businesses, particularly the Energetica Corridor
She added that regional transport partnership Nestrans was currently undertaking an appraisal which will consider the strategic transport connections on the A90 from Fraserburgh and Peterhead to Aberdeen.
