Conservative leader Ruth Davidson is visiting a north-east farm with close links to Scotland’s bard today to highlight the party’s rural affairs credentials.
She is holding an event at Clochnahill farm near Stonehaven, the birth place of Robert Burns’s father William in 1721, to promote new policies.
Political parties are expected to publish their general election manifestos shortly.
Last night Ms Davidson said: “We have a rural action plan, which will be in our manifesto, and will show we are serious about giving rural Scotland a fair break.
“For too long towns and villages outside the central belt have been completely overlooked by a central belt Scottish Government.
“It’s time for that to change to ensure our rural communities are sustainable, buoyant and attractive places to live and work.”
