The Electoral Commission published figures yesterday showing how much parties spent in campaigning ahead of last May’s vote. In Scotland, the SNP spent £1.5 million compared with Labour (£1.6 million) and the Conservatives (£1.3 million). A spokesman for the SNP said they offered the best value for money at £26,000 per MP. The SNP won 56 seats at Westminster, while Labour and the Conservatives secured just one each.
