Ruth Davidson is known as a ferocious debater and someone always ready to challenge the Scottish government on their figures – but it seems Ms Davidson may have gotten her own economic expertise from a rather unusual source.
The Scottish Conservative leader was caught out in what could be her first real political gaffe after tweeting her support for Wimbledon victor Andy Murray – while sitting in front of an ‘Economics for Dummies’ book.
Although the original tweet was always intended to be light-hearted in tone, eagle-eyed social media users spotted the Tory leader’s bookshelf and had a very different kind of fun at her expense…
Yasssss! As @andy_murray takes the 1st, it’s all about the #Lendlface round our gaff… pic.twitter.com/zFi2yvNc83

Ms Davidson tweeted the picture of herself to her 60,000 Twitter followers, saying: “Yass! As Andy Murray takes the 1st, it’s all about the #Lendlface round our gaff…”
One user, calling himself ‘Gallus Pioneer’, tweeted the politician saying: “It might have been advisable to hide ‘Economics for Dummies'”
But others were more concerned about Ms Davidson’s use of sunglasses indoors.
