Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid has said he is “delighted” after being handed a role within the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Mr Duguid has been appointed a parliamentary private secretary (PPS) at the department and will work closely with ministers in the Commons and at their London base.
The PPS role is viewed as a starting point for MPs to go on to become ministers.
Mr Duguid, who worked for 25 years in the oil and gas industry before being elected in 2017, said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as PPS to the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
“I very much look forward to working under the Secretary of State Andrea Leadsom and the rest of the team, including fellow Scottish Conservative, Lord Duncan.”
He added: “This is a critical time for energy policy in the UK as we aim to meet our commitment of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
“I have more than two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry in the North Sea and around the world and I hope to use some of that expertise in this new role.”
