Boris Johnson MPs have tonight voted 328 to 301 to take control of the Commons agenda in an attempt to prevent the UK crashing out of the EU without a deal on October 31.
Earlier today, the government lost its Commons majority after Conservative MP Phillip Lee defected to the Liberal Democrats
A defeated prime minister Boris Johnson said the result would mean “more dither and delay”.
He said: “Let there be no doubt about the consequences of this vote tonight.
“Parliament is on the brink of wrecking any deal we might reach with Brussels.”
He added: “The leader of the opposition has been begging for an election for two years.
“I don’t want an election but if MPs vote tomorrow to compel another pointless delay to Brexit, then that would be the only way to resolve this.”
