Chief Treasury Secretary Danny Alexander has predicted the “quiet majority” will be heard today – and that Scotland will vote No.
The Liberal Democrat MP for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey spent the final day of campaigning speaking to voters in his constituency.
He said: “I hope and expect that this Thursday the quiet majority will be heard in the Highlands and across the country and that we will vote No for a stronger Scotland.
“Why take the risk to jobs and pensions of separation, when we can have a stronger Scotland with better, faster, safer change with No?”
He said he hoped undecided voters in the Highlands and across Scotland would reflect on what they have learned in recent days as they go to the polls.
“A No vote doesn’t mean no change,” he said.
“No means a stronger Scotland, with more powers on tax and welfare for the Scottish Parliament, and our NHS secured and jobs protected as part of the strong UK economic recovery.
“Part of that new settlement for Scotland needs to be powers handed back to the Highlands that have been centralised by the SNP government in Edinburgh.”
