Fifteen Scottish MPs have backed a motion calling for CCTV to be mandatory in slaughterhouses.
The move would aim to end cruel practices towards animals in abattoirs and help prosecute people caught on film breaking the law.
Aberdeen North MP Frank Doran, Aberdeen South MP Dame Anne Begg and Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP John Thurso are among more than 100 politicians to put their names against the Westminster motion.
Kate Fowler, head of campaigns at Animal Aid, said: “We are very grateful for the support of these compassionate MPs, who can see that action must be taken to hold the industry properly to account.”
