SNP Westminster Leader Angus Robertson has told MPs the Queen is a Press and Journal reader as he paid tribute to her long service on her 90th birthday.
The Moray MP highlighted her connection with Scotland – particularly to the north-east – in a specially organised Commons debate.
David Cameron said she had led a “gentle evolution of our monarchy”, while Jeremy Corbyn hailed the way she had stood up for the Commonwealth.
The Labour leader also joked she had “seen off” 12 prime ministers and said many of his constituents believe she’s a secret fan of Arsenal football club.
In his speech, Father of the House Sir Gerald Kaufman said the event was not about celebrating the Elizabeth “on our coins” – but the Elizabeth “in our hearts”.
Peers have also been paying tribute in the House of Lords.
