Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran is intent on making sure his Inverness side is harder to break down today when they make the trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts.
Inverness go into the game as the Premiership’s bottom side, having lost their opening two matches of Foran’s debut campaign in the dugout, conceding five goals in the process.
Foran has been left disappointed by Caley Jags’ defensive vulnerabilities in recent weeks and says much of his attention this week has been geared towards making his side more formidable for the trip to Edinburgh.
Foran said: “Hearts are going to try and put a lot of balls into the box, as they have been doing, so we have to be solid.
“We’ve got to be solid all over the park and defend from the front. We’re disappointed with the goals we have conceded in the last three games and we’ve put in a lot of work towards that this week.
“Setbacks will happen but I have a huge belief in these players. They lift me right back up on Monday morning. Working with these guys is a joy.
“They are fantastic players and fantastic individuals, so there is no doom and gloom. I’ve been disappointed, they’ve been disappointed, but there’s a lot more to come from us and I’m really looking forward to the game.”
Foran’s cause has been helped little by an Achilles injury suffered by summer signing Kevin McNaughton, which is threatening to rule the veteran former Aberdeen defender out of action for the rest of the season.
McNaughton’s injury could pave the way for Josh Meekings to make his first competitive appearance of the campaign following a knee injury but Foran says the Englishman will not be rushed.
He added: “He’s really looked after himself. There is no pressure on Josh and he knows what he can do. He’s a very confident lad.
“Josh is an athlete. He’s only missed three-and-a-half weeks and has looked excellent since – as fit and strong as he’s ever been.”
