Former Norwich City forward Jamar Loza is the latest player to be offered the chance to win a deal with Caley Thistle after joining the Highlanders on trial.
Jamaica international attacker Loza is a free agent after leaving the Canaries in the summer, and netted a consolation goal in Caley Jags’ 3-1 Development League loss against Motherwell at Station Park on Tuesday as he played 90 minutes for Duncan Shearer’s side.
The 22-year-old made his Norwich debut in a 2-0 Premier League loss against Arsenal at Carrow Road in May 2014, but only made a further five appearances for the Norfolk club prior to his release in the summer, with his only goal coming in a 2-2 draw against Huddersfield Town in the Championship last March.
Loza has three caps for his country, but spent much of his time at City out on loan, with stints at Coventry City, Leyton Orient, Yeovil Town, Stevenage and two spells at Southend United.
Caley Jags manager Richie Foran has yet to make a decision on whether Loza will be offered a deal, but remains intent on bolstering his attacking options despite deciding against offering Moroccan forward Farid El Alagui a contract last week.
Foran is also weighing up a move for former Dundee United defender Gavin Gunning, with the Irishman playing the second-half of Tuesday’s game against the Steelmen.
Caley Jags are short of defensive options after former Scotland defender Kevin McNaughton suffered an Achilles injury which requires surgery and is likely to keep him out for the rest of the season.
Foran could sign as many as four players before next Wednesday’s transfer deadline, with the Highlanders bottom of the Premiership and still to register a point this season.
