Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran has hinted that Aaron Doran could be in line for his first Scottish Premiership start for over a year against Motherwell tomorrow.
Doran is back to full fitness after missing all of last season’s league campaign because of a knee injury.
The Irishman has made eight appearances as a substitute for Inverness this season, including an impressive 34-minute cameo in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Caley Thistle when a late goal from Lonsana Doumbouya salvaged a point for Foran’s side.
The Caley Thistle manager is pleased with Doran’s progress after a lengthy lay-off.
He said: “He looks really good.
“Against Kilmarnock, he got into some great areas to receive the ball.
“He could have been a bit better when he got on the ball but he certainly gave me some food for thought.
“We have a really strong bench and maybe I will look to freshen things up on Wednesday.”
Caley Thistle are in sixth position in the Scottish Premiership, a point above tomorrow’s opponents Motherwell, who have a game in hand.
After a 1-0 defeat by Rangers ended a five game unbeaten run, Foran was delighted with the perseverance displayed by his side to take a share of the spoils against Kilmarnock at the weekend.
He said: “Kilmarnock are a good side.
“It is always difficult the week after playing either Celtic or Rangers.
“The atmosphere was great for the Rangers game but it was a bit flat for Kilmarnock.
“They are always tough games to dig out a result.
“I thought a draw was a fair result based on the chances that were created.
“We managed to grind out a result when we weren’t at our best.
“We will play better and lose games.”
