Ross County could not find a way past Dundee despite creating plenty chances in an exciting encounter at Dens Park.
The best of the Staggies’ opportunities came in the second-half, with Chris Routis and Alex Schalk failing to find the net, although Dundee also spurned a glorious chance through Marcus Haber.
The 0-0 draw keeps the Staggies in seventh, and still within a point of sixth-placed Kilmarnock who secured the same result against Motherwell.
County were unchanged from the side that drew 2-2 against Hearts the previous weekend, meaning wide man Tony Dingwall kept his place after impressing in his first start of the campaign.
The Staggies had a glorious chance to open the scoring after just three minutes when Christopher Routis’ corner fell perfectly for the unmarked Andrew Davies, but his rifled shot was straight at Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain.
County goalkeeper Scott Fox was called into action shortly afterwards when he got down to thwart Craig Wighton’s low strike, after Jesse Curran had dummied a low corner from Tom Hately.
The Staggies further tested Bain through low efforts from long-range by Michael Gardyne and Routis, with the visitors continuing to show plenty neat attacking play as they bore down on the Dundee goal.
The Dark Blues ended the first-half on top however, with Cammy Kerr offering some dangerous deliveries from the right flank which the visitors’ defence did well to cut out.
County had the ball in the net just two minutes after the break, when Gardyne’s cross was nodded into the far corner by Boyce, however the Northern Irishman was penalised by referee Euan Anderson for a push on defender Darren O’Dea.
Dundee came close to opening the scoring in spectacular style on 55 minutes when Wighton let fly with a dipping effort from the edge of the box, which trundled narrowly wide of Fox’s right-hand post.
County spurned their best chance of the game on 73 minutes when a neat move saw substitute Alex Schalk feed Boyce, who in turn played in Routis, but with a free shot at goal he screwed his effort wide.
The hosts had an equally excellent opportunity just moments later when Marcus Haber was played clean through on goal, but with only Fox to beat he struck wide.
Schalk forced another superb save from Bain with 11 minutes left when he headed goalwards from Jonathan Franks’ delivery, but there was to be no breakthrough.
