Aberdeen sign mysterious Turkish midfielder – or perhaps not By Reporter January 7 2017, 12:53 pm January 7 2017, 12:53 pm Share Aberdeen sign mysterious Turkish midfielder – or perhaps not Share via Facebook Twitter Whatsapp Messenger Linkedin Email Post link https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/1134231/aberdeen-sign-mysterious-turkish-midfielder-perhaps-not/ Copy Link Aberdeen have announced the signing of a little-known Turkish midfielder – or perhaps they haven’t. Sky Sports announced the Dons had recruited the previously unheard of Yerdss Selzavon yesterday evening. But of course the player doesn’t really exist – and the transfer announcement originated from a parody social media account. The joke was very much on the national broadcaster after they picked up the fake transfer news and ran with it on their transfer blog. “Yer da sells Avon” has become a popular insult in Scotland – but apparently not at Sky Sports where they didn’t spot the gag until it was too late. The news has since been removed from the Sky Sports website. It seems likely that fans won’t be seeing Yerdss Selzavon strutting his stuff at Pittodrie any time soon.
