Caley Thistle defender Carl Tremarco has handed manager Richie Foran a boost by returning to training earlier than expected for a knee injury.
Tremarco had been expected to miss nearly a month of action after suffering the injury during his side’s Highland derby encounter with Ross County on March 18, which caused him to sit out Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock.
The Englishman has quickly regained fitness, though, and could feature for Caley Jags in tonight’s Premiership match at Aberdeen.
Foran said: “Carl trained on Monday, which was a big boost for us. It just sums up Carl. He was meant to be out for two or three weeks but, no, he’ll get through the pain for the team.
“He’s a good one to have back and he could play. His fitness levels haven’t suffered. He is one of our top two or three in terms of his fitness levels and he’ll have lost none of his match sharpness. He’s ready and eager to start.
“It’s a huge boost, both with him and with Kevin McNaughton getting the second half under his belt on Saturday. Those are the types of player I want in my team.
“Carl is probably not 100% but he’s eager, hungry – he wants to play and help us out. I’ve a really good selection headache now with a lot of defenders fit.”
Inverness returned to the foot of the Premiership following Saturday’s result, however Foran remains upbeat ahead of tonight’s match.
He added: “There’s still eight big games to go and a lot of points up for grabs. We were happy enough with the performance on Saturday. We went long too early in the second half where a bit of panic has set in. But we’re looking forward to tomorrow night against a team in great form. We’ve had some good results against the big sides.”
