Peterhead manager Jim McInally hoping to halt in-form Elgin City

Jim McInally's side were beaten 3-0 by the Pars at East End Park.

Peterhead have already defeated Elgin twice this season but Blue Toon manager Jim McInally reckons the Borough Briggs men will prove a much tougher obstacle this time.

McInally’s side recorded 3-0 victories against the Black and Whites in the Betfred Cup and the league earlier this season and will bid for a hat-trick in Elgin this afternoon.

But Elgin have won three on the spin since Gavin Price replaced Jim Weir, who took over at Forfar Athletic last month.

McInally said: “I’m looking forward to the match because it is two teams who are winning games at the minute.

“Something has to give this weekend.

“They are going to be feeling confident but so are we after winning three in a row.

“Gavin Price has done well since taking over the job up there.

“I was surprised that he stayed on as I think the expectation was he would go to Forfar with Jim.

“I have spoken to Jim and he said Gavin always wanted to go on to manage.

“He has certainly started really well.

“We have played Elgin twice this season so we know plenty about each other.

“There won’t be any secrets, that’s for sure.”

McInally is going to be without central defender David McCracken (hamstring) and Jamie Stevenson (calf) for this afternoon’s match at Borough Briggs.

He said: “We are scoring goals and playing well but we still haven’t had the opportunity of having a full team available.

“I’m missing two players from my back four today with David and Jamie out but hopefully they will be back next week.

“We are missing that stability in defence but Mason Robertson came in last week and played very well.”
