Caley Thistle stormed to a convincing 4-0 victory against bottom-of-the-table Brechin City in their rescheduled Championship encounter at Caledonian Stadium.
Early goals from Brad McKay and John Baird had Inverness in cruise control after just nine minutes, before Connor Bell and substitute George Oakley added further goals after the break.
John Robertson made two changes from the side that was defeated 2-0 at home to St Mirren on Saturday, with skipper Gary Warren and the suspended Iain Vigurs dropping out, replaced by Brad McKay and Charlie Trafford.
It could have been a different had Brechin taken the lead in the opening two minutes, when on-loan Aberdeen forward Connor McLennan beat the offside trap but his lofted shot over the head of goalkeeper Mark Ridgers struck the right-hand post.
Inverness took control however, opening the scoring on seven minutes when Liam Polworth’s corner picked out McKay who thumped the ball home from close-range.
Caley Jags doubled their advantage just over a minute later, when a defensive lapse from Euan Smith teed up Baird, who rolled into the empty net to secure his first goal since September.
Inverness were cruising and Jake Mulraney came close to adding a third on the stroke of half-time when he ran through on goal, only to be denied by the feet of goalkeeper Graeme Smith.
Inverness did find a third just six minutes after the interval when another corner by Polworth was nodded home by substitute Bell.
Caley Jags sealed the victory three minutes from time, when substitute Oakley ran through on goal before clipping the ball over the advancing Smith on a comfortable night for the Highlanders.
